Alan Kyerematen, founder and leader of the United Party, announced on The Point of View that the party was created to bring Ghanaians together beyond the long‑standing political split between the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party. He said Ghana is too politically polarised and needs a common vision that places the national interest ahead of partisan concerns.
Kyerematen explained that the United Party is a political vehicle designed to unite people regardless of ethnic, religious or age differences. "I wanted a brand that communicates a very important message: that we need to unite Ghana behind one common vision and one common future," he said.
He warned that the country cannot make meaningful progress if political divisions continue to take precedence over the broader national interest. "The problem that we have in Ghana is that we are too polarised, we are too divided. A house divided against itself cannot stand," he stated.
According to Kyerematen, the party’s objective is to build a unified political front centred on the "Ghana project" rather than the interests of individual parties. "If only we can bring Ghanaians, regardless of our ethnic background, religious background, age… if we can create a unified front for Ghana, looking at the Ghana project, putting Ghana first, not the interest of individual parties, Ghana will rise again," he added.
