A delegation from the United States Department of the Treasury visited the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) on Friday, September 18, 2026, alongside officials from the Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy in Accra.

GoldBod Deputy Chief Executive Officer Richard Nunekpeku welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the board’s mandate under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140) and its role in implementing the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Programme (GANRAP). He outlined several initiatives to strengthen Ghana’s gold value chain, including promoting local refining, reforming the national assay regime, and developing nationwide traceability systems.

Other topics discussed were the reclamation of degraded forest landscapes, strengthening the broader gold value chain, and plans to provide bankable geological assessments and formalise the artisanal and small‑scale mining (ASM) sector. The visit offered the U.S. Treasury team a deeper understanding of GoldBod’s reforms and its contribution to Ghana’s economy.
