The Parliamentary Energy Committee visited the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) on Tuesday to assess the refinery’s progress under its current management. Chairman Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah expressed satisfaction with the turnaround in operations, noting that TOR has moved from recording losses to posting profits in less than two years.
During the tour, committee members examined various facilities and were impressed by the changes observed across the refinery. Bedzrah highlighted the impact of committed leadership, stating that entrusting work to motivated people yields visible results.
The committee also reviewed issues raised in TOR’s audit committee report. Bedzrah said management had addressed several concerns, though some work remains before the process can be deemed complete.
These observations form part of the committee’s oversight duties as Parliament monitors ongoing developments at TOR. The visit underscored the refinery’s progress and the importance of local engineering talent in its redevelopment.
