The Education Ministry has announced that its Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) resolution centres will remain open until Friday, September 18, to address outstanding placement cases.
Hashmin Mohammed, the Press Secretary to the Education Minister, revealed that the centres, operating across the country, will stay open from Monday to Friday as the Ministry works to resolve cases involving students who have yet to secure placement.
Of the 53,887 students initially placed under the self‑placement category, 33,726 have already secured placement in various schools. The CSSPS Secretariat has received 9,948 cases at resolution centres nationwide, of which 4,531 have been resolved.
Mohammed said the Ministry is optimistic that the number of outstanding cases will drop significantly before students resume school. “The resolution centres will remain active from Monday till Friday, and we are hoping that by Friday, the numbers should be able to go down because on September 18, they will report to school,” he told JoyNews.
The extension follows the Ministry’s earlier decision to allow students who were not placed during the initial exercise to use the self‑placement option to select schools with available vacancies.
Students and parents can expect the centres to continue operating until the deadline, with the Ministry aiming to report a substantial reduction in unresolved cases by the end of the week.
