In a ruling on Thursday, September 24, the High Court refused to grant bail to 40‑year‑old Senior Nursing Officer Salomey Awiti Baffoe of Techiman. The court said that releasing her could create a real risk of interference with witnesses as the investigation into the high‑profile “Ghana Jollof” TikTok case continues.
Baffoe faces allegations of abetting the publication of false news tied to the case. Her counsel, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, argued that the constitutional presumption of innocence and the absence of evidence that she would interfere justified bail. He also highlighted her personal circumstances, noting she is a mother to minor children and that her detention is affecting her child’s education.
The State opposed the application, insisting that Baffoe must remain in custody to assist police investigations and to help locate a second accused individual identified as “Ghana Jollof.” After considering both sides, the court maintained that the cyber‑related nature of the investigation raised concerns about possible witness interference and directed the Republic to expedite its investigations.
