The Progressive Alliance for Ghana (PAG) has officially endorsed Dr. John Enyonam Kpikpi as its flagbearer and presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections, setting out a campaign platform centered on moral leadership and economic transformation.
The unanimous endorsement took place during the party’s National Delegates Conference at the All Nations School in Ashalley Botwe on Saturday, August 1, 2026, drawing traditional leaders, national executives, and delegates from all 16 regions.
A Call for Leadership Integrity
Delivering his acceptance speech, Dr. Kpikpi focused heavily on moral regeneration, arguing that the nation's economic stagnation stems from systemic leadership failures and non-meritocratic governance.
Critiquing current practices where public contracts are frequently awarded based on kickbacks rather than competence, Dr. Kpikpi stressed that young Ghanaians—who make up over 70 percent of the population—lack opportunity rather than potential.

Modernizing Agriculture and Creating "Millionaire Farmers"
Central to Dr. Kpikpi’s economic policy under his "Reimagining Ghana" vision is a multi-pronged strategy to revamp the agricultural sector and reduce import dependency.
Key proposals include:
Agricultural Villages: Developing modern farming communities equipped with housing, clean water, electricity, and Wi-Fi connectivity to attract young workers.
Import Substitution: Eliminating Ghana's estimated $700 million annual rice import bill by shifting production entirely to local producers.
Wealth Creation: Building structured agribusiness pipelines designed to create "millionaire farmers" among Ghanaian youth.
Localizing Infrastructure and Eliminating the Housing Deficit
Addressing the state of national infrastructure, which he characterized as unacceptable, Dr. Kpikpi proposed ending the reliance on foreign road contractors. Instead, a PAG administration would train and equip local youth to establish Ghanaian-owned construction firms, keeping infrastructure spending within the domestic economy.
On housing, Dr. Kpikpi laid out an ambitious 10 to 12-year target to eliminate Ghana's 2.4 million housing unit deficit, pledging a massive national development scheme to ensure every Ghanaian family owns at least a two-bedroom home.
Concluding his address, the newly endorsed flagbearer expressed confidence that these structural reforms would reverse the country's youth migration trend, transforming Ghana into a thriving destination that attracts global talent and investment.
