Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence Committee, has demanded urgent government action after claiming Ghana is on the brink of becoming a "cocaine coast" if drug trafficking remains unchecked.
In a social media post, the Assin South MP highlighted the surge in major narcotics consignments allegedly linked to Ghana, questioning whether authorities are "directly facilitating" the transit or profiting from the trade.
He further criticized the lack of accountability, noting that no government official has been dismissed over the alleged failures. Fordjour called for a full‑scale inquiry involving the Interior Ministry, Transport Ministry, Narcotics Control Commission, Ghana Immigration Service and the BNI.
The MP stressed that protecting Ghana’s international image must be a priority, urging swift measures to curb the growing drug trafficking crisis.
