Nadia Buari, a celebrated actress in both Ghana and Nigeria, posted a reflective message on Facebook today urging people to stop seeking validation from those who fail to appreciate them.
In her post, the actress said life is too precious to spend proving one’s worth to people who are determined to misunderstand you, and that it is better to focus on spaces where they are valued and celebrated.
She encouraged her followers to let go of situations and relationships that no longer serve them, advising them to "stop watering dead plants" and "stop knocking on doors that are already shut," and to turn their attention inward and upward instead.
Buari also urged people to surround themselves with those who understand and appreciate them, rather than constantly seeking acceptance from the wrong people, adding that "finding the rooms where the lighting suits you" and "finding the people who speak your language" are key to self‑love.
She concluded that choosing people and spaces that reciprocate one’s value is an act of self‑love, and that going where one is celebrated leads to a life that is not just endured but enjoyed.
Buari rose to prominence through films such as Mummy’s Daughter and Beyoncé: The President’s Daughter, and later built a strong profile in Nollywood, also working as a producer.
