President John Dramani Mahama has summoned the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ebi Bright, and the Managing Director of TDC Company Limited, Courage Nunekpeku, to the Presidency over an escalating dispute surrounding a development project at Community One Site Three in Tema.

The meeting, set for Monday, August 17, at 11am, will also bring in the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, according to a communication from the Presidency.

The directive was issued on the President's instruction on Friday, August 14, amid a standoff between the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) and TDC over an ongoing development and infilling project.

The TMA has directed TDC to halt work on the project, arguing that it is being carried out without the required permit. The assembly has also raised concerns flagged by residents, including the alleged felling of about 50 trees, demolition of structures, encroachment on playgrounds and green belts, and obstruction of access routes.

The dispute has heightened concerns over the use and protection of public spaces in the community. Monday's meeting is expected to give the parties involved a chance to address the issues, clarify their respective positions and agree on a way forward for the project.
