Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Member of Parliament for the Abura‑Asebu‑Kwamankese (AAK) Constituency, cut sod today in Abura Dunkwa to launch the construction of several new classroom blocks and ancillary facilities.
In a joint ceremony with Mr Daniel Mensah Wardy, the District Chief Executive for AAK, the MP marked the start of a three‑unit classroom block, an office and a store at Obenkrom, and a two‑unit classroom block with the same facilities at Kwesi Amaa.
Phase two will see an ultramodern 12‑unit classroom block and a two‑unit block with office and store space at Korado, while the Moree community will receive a similar two‑unit block. The project also includes Community Health Planning and Services compounds at New Ebu and Katakyiase, complete with accommodation and mechanised boreholes, and a completed Free Primary Healthcare Post at Moree.
Addressing the media after the tour, Mr Ofosu highlighted that many schools in the constituency still operate under trees and in unsuitable structures. He stressed that modern infrastructure is essential for quality education and national progress, and pledged that the new classrooms would be handed over within six months to end the ‘Schools Under Trees’ phenomenon in AAK.
MP Ofosu said the initiative would provide a more conducive teaching and learning environment for children in rural communities, ensuring they are not disadvantaged in their pursuit of education.
