Judicial Secretary Urges JUSAG to End Strike Amid Salary Review Talks

The Judicial Secretary has appealed to the leadership and members of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) to call off their strike and return to work while negotiations over the 2026 salary review impasse continue.

In a press release issued on Saturday, October 31, the Management of the Judicial Service acknowledged the frustrations arising from the disagreement over the salary review and assured employees that their concerns were being treated with the seriousness they deserved.

Management expressed appreciation for the resilience and commitment of staff, stressing that every employee, from the registry to the courtroom, plays an indispensable role in ensuring the effective administration of justice in Ghana.

It said it was currently engaged in high‑level, good‑faith negotiations with relevant government stakeholders to secure a fair and sustainable resolution that recognises the contributions of Judicial Service employees.

Against this backdrop, Management urged JUSAG leadership and its members to consider the broader national interest and resume their duties while the discussions continued.

It warned that the disruption of court operations was not merely an administrative inconvenience, but had far‑reaching consequences for citizens, particularly vulnerable individuals, accused persons, families and those seeking justice or redress.

According to Management, the continued absence of staff from the courts could undermine the delivery of justice to people who depend on the judicial system to protect their rights and maintain social order.

It also reminded employees of their constitutional obligations to the people of Ghana, in whose name justice is administered, emphasising that their presence was critical to ensuring uninterrupted court services.

The Judicial Service Management reiterated its commitment to resolving the impasse as quickly and equitably as possible and called for continued cooperation between staff and management.

It urged employees to put the needs of the Ghanaian public and their responsibility to serve at the forefront of efforts to resolve the disagreement.
