Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced that the government will cover every expense for the mother of the 15‑year‑old Ghanaian who was murdered, Javits Frimpong, to travel to the United States for his funeral.

The move comes after U.S. President Donald Trump granted an immediate visa to Doris Adu Gyamfi, following an intervention by New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Ablakwa said he had spoken with the bereaved mother and assigned Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials to help her with the visa application.

In a post on X on Saturday, October 31, Ablakwa said, "The Mahama Administration will take care of the full cost of Madam Adu Gyamfi’s travels and also stands ready to contribute towards a dignifying funeral." He praised Trump’s intervention and Mayor Mamdani’s role in securing the visa.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with relevant authorities to secure justice for Javits, adding, "We resolve to continue to work together in securing justice for Javits."
