Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, met with the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) and its members to discuss ongoing reforms in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector. The meeting, part of a broader effort to deepen collaboration with private‑sector players, aimed to improve efficiency, resilience and sustainability across the energy value chain.

During the session, bulk oil distributors raised concerns affecting their operations and offered recommendations on the direction of government reforms. Jinapor described the meeting as productive, noting that industry stakeholders presented a range of concerns, views and suggestions for consideration.

The engagement is significant for Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector, where bulk oil distributors play a critical role in the importation, storage and distribution of petroleum products. Jinapor stressed that the government remains committed to maintaining continuous dialogue with industry players, incorporating private‑sector perspectives into energy policy formulation and implementation.

He added that sustained engagement would allow businesses to raise concerns about the business environment while enabling the government to better assess the potential impact of proposed reforms on investment, supply security and market efficiency. The Minister said the government will continue engaging stakeholders as reforms are developed and implemented, emphasizing that collaboration with the private sector will remain central to achieving the desired transformation of the energy sector.
