In a heartfelt post, Williams said the time has come to bring his journey with the Black Stars to an end, adding that he leaves happy, proud and at peace knowing he gave everything every time he wore the shirt.
He credited Ghana with giving him far more than a football career, saying it allowed him to come back home, feel closer to his roots, and experience the enormous pride of representing his country and wearing the flag on his chest.
Williams thanked everyone who was part of the journey and the love shown to him throughout, insisting his bond with the country will not fade simply because his playing days with the team are over. Ghana will always be a part of him, he said, and he will continue supporting the Black Stars as one of the fans, wherever he ends up.
He signed off with a message close to many Ghanaians' hearts. Medaase. Always Ghana.
Williams switched allegiance to Ghana in 2022 and went on to represent the Black Stars at multiple tournaments, becoming a key attacking option for the side before this decision to step away from international duty.
