The Ministry of Roads and Highways issued a statement on Tuesday, October 27, clarifying that the viral footage showing a road surface being pulled apart by hand was filmed in Liberia. The Ministry said its checks confirmed that the road shown in the video was located in Liberia and had no connection to any road project under its supervision in Ghana.
It categorically rejected the misrepresentation, warning against the circulation of footage presented in a way that wrongly implicates Ghana’s road infrastructure programme. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that road projects across the country meet the required standards, citing ongoing inspection tours by the Roads and Highways Minister as part of nationwide monitoring.
The Ministry urged media houses and social media users to establish the authenticity and location of videos before sharing them, noting that misleading information could undermine public confidence and distort discussions about road construction. It has asked the public to disregard the claims connecting the footage to Ghana and seek information from credible, verified sources.
