Turkish trainer Kasim Gokyildiz has resigned as head coach of Heart of Lions, following a difficult opening stretch of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League. The team has played eight matches, recording one win, two draws and five losses, leaving them only one point above the relegation zone.
Gokyildiz signed a one‑year contract with the Kpando‑based club after Bashir Hayford’s departure at the end of his term. Prior to joining the Lions, he managed Hohoe United, Bechem United and King Faisal.
Supporters have increasingly called for change as the Lions struggle to climb the table. With the club now without a head coach, the pressure mounts to reverse the slump before the next fixture.
Matchday nine will pit Heart of Lions against Bechem United on Sunday, November 1, at the Kpando Sports Stadium, a crucial test as the team fights to keep its survival hopes alive.
