Ericsson celebrated its 150th global anniversary and 30 years of operations in Ghana on Thursday, marking a long‑standing partnership with the nation’s government, telecom industry and society. The company traced its roots from pioneering telecommunications technology to today’s digital infrastructure that connects people, businesses and public institutions.
Since 1996, Ericsson has been a foundational partner in Ghana’s telecom evolution, launching the first commercial GSM network that kick‑started the country’s digitalisation. Over the past three decades, the company has introduced 3G, 4G, rural coverage solutions and the backbone for mobile financial services that have empowered communities and businesses across Ghana.
Vice President Majda Lahlou Kassi said the 30‑year journey “is a testament to the shared belief in the potential of connectivity and the powerful partnerships we have forged.” She added that the anniversary is “not just about celebrating the past; it’s about renewing our commitment to Ghana’s future.”
Head of Cluster Central, Rostand Njomgang, highlighted Ericsson’s role in bridging distances, empowering entrepreneurs and connecting communities. He noted that the next chapter will be defined by 5G, AI and cloud innovation, and that Ericsson is proud to partner in making it happen.
