The Calvary Methodist Men's Fellowship at Adabraka, Accra, has commemorated its 50th anniversary with a call on the leadership to expand its membership by actively recruiting younger men from within the church.
A former Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Gloria Akuffo, who made the appeal, urged the leadership of the men's fellowship to adopt strategic approaches to engage young men early in life. "I urge the fellowship to look at their membership drive through a 'catch them young' approach to sensitize men at an early age and young men. Do not think that the Men's Fellowship is only for old men," she said.
Akuffo also commended the membership for their contributions to the growth of the church over the past half-century.

The celebration was held under the theme "Walking in the Word: Equipped for every good work." The Chairman of the Calvary Methodist Men's Fellowship, Professor Victor Agyeman, emphasized that transitioning young men into the fellowship was critical for both church continuity and national development. He said instilling Christian values in young men played an essential role in curbing societal vices such as corruption. "To ensure the sustainability of the country and address issues like corruption, we must make sure that people know Christ and live by his principles," he said.
Reflecting on the fellowship's history, Prof Agyeman said five decades had passed since a small group of male congregants organized themselves in 1975 to support church activities. The fellowship, he said, could now boast of 165 active members, operated a Christian bookshop and ran a welfare scheme to assist members in need.
The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev Prof Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, paid tribute to the founding pioneers of the fellowship and noted how their early dedication inspired the creation of similar men's fellowships across Methodist congregations nationwide. He charged current members to remain steadfast in nurturing godly leadership, strengthening family units, and supporting the broader mission of the church.
As part of the climax of the golden jubilee, several past and present executives were presented with commemorative awards in recognition of their dedicated service and leadership over the years.
