Assin Fosu Kidnapping: 30-Year-Old Bismark Amoh Held, Family Faces GH¢50,000 Ransom

A family in Assin Fosu, Central Region, is racing against time to secure the life of 30‑year‑old Bismark Amoh, who was abducted on Sunday, 6 September 2026. The victim has spent more than 48 hours in captivity, during which his captors repeatedly threatened to kill him unless a ransom was paid.

Initial demands were GH¢45,000, with a 24‑hour ultimatum. The situation escalated when the kidnappers sent a disturbing audio‑video clip via WhatsApp, showing Amoh stripped, tied, and beaten. The recording, obtained by the Ghana News Agency, also showed him being forced to lie in water and endure physical abuse while pleading for help.

Investigations suggest the kidnappers used Amoh’s own mobile phone to communicate, attempting to conceal their identities. The family, desperate to save their relative, gathered GH¢19,500 from friends and relatives and sent it to the kidnappers. However, the attackers demanded an additional GH¢30,500, raising the total to GH¢50,000.

A woman’s voice in the background accused Amoh of defrauding those involved in his detention, adding to the tense atmosphere. The family now faces a critical decision as the kidnappers continue to threaten the victim’s life.

Law enforcement officials are monitoring the situation closely, but the family remains uncertain about the next steps and whether the ransom will secure Amoh’s release.
