Absa Bank Ghana officially opened its new head office, Absa Place, on 64 Independence Avenue in Ridge, Accra, marking a new chapter in the bank’s more than 100‑year presence in the country.
The new facility replaces the former head office on High Street and is expected to strengthen operations and enhance customer and business experiences.
During the commissioning ceremony, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku‑Agyemang urged the bank to use its long‑standing presence to expand financing to the real economy, particularly for women‑owned businesses and young entrepreneurs, and to develop practical solutions for agriculture, manufacturing and trade.
Managing Director Dr. Edward Nartey Botchway reaffirmed Absa’s commitment to supporting businesses and Ghana’s broader economic ambitions, pledging that the bank would be a dependable partner for investment and international market access amid difficult economic conditions.
Bank of Ghana Second Deputy Governor Matilda Asante Asiedu highlighted the regulator’s expectation that the investment in Absa Place will translate into stronger institutional capacity and better services for customers and businesses, while urging the bank to leverage technology and innovation to improve service and manage emerging risks.
The event drew government officials, regulators, diplomatic representatives, business leaders, clients, partners and other stakeholders, underscoring the bank’s role as a systemically important institution in Ghana’s financial sector.
Absa’s new headquarters represents more than a corporate facility; it is positioned as a catalyst for deeper contribution to Ghana’s financial sector and the wider economy over the next 110 years.
