Dr Edward Botchway, Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana, addressed the opening of the three‑day Greater Accra Regional Convention 2026 of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International (FGBMI) in Accra, calling on Christian entrepreneurs to aim higher and refuse to let challenges curb their ambitions.
During the ceremony, Botchway reminded attendees that the pace of the global economy demands constant innovation and that faith can empower them to use whatever resources they possess to achieve lasting impact. “It does not matter what we might have in our hands as at this point, but we would walk out of here with that sense of the vision that we have as a fellowship, the dreams that we have as individuals, that no matter how big they are, that we would look unto the God that we serve,” he said.
He warned that obstacles should not deter Christian businesspeople from pursuing their aspirations, noting that successful faith‑based enterprises can serve as examples of how to thrive while doing things the right way. “For every Christian businessman that makes it, it is an example unto others of what is possible with God,” Botchway added.
International President Francis Owusu highlighted the fellowship’s plans for expansion, including new digital resources, a revamped website, training videos for chapter leaders, and a forthcoming film based on the bestselling book The Happiest People on Earth. Owusu said the fellowship expects to reach more nations and establish new chapters in the coming years.
Frank Kofi‑Opata, Chairman of the Convention Action Committee, urged businesses to reject corruption, cheating and greed, arguing that a renewed commitment to ethical practices could enhance Ghana’s reputation and contribute to national development.
As the convention closed, Botchway’s message resonated with many, urging them to leave Accra with a renewed commitment to achieving more and to trust that God can work with whatever resources they have at hand.
