The Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Yeji, Pru East District, Bono East Region, completed its 7th matriculation ceremony with 311 new students, including 85 first‑year and 226 second‑year entrants. The event also marked the official launch of the college’s 10th Anniversary Celebration, offering a chance to review past achievements and set future priorities.
Principal Samuel Ansu‑Frimpong addressed the gathering, congratulating the new cohort and urging them to maintain professionalism, discipline and ethical standards. He highlighted nursing and midwifery as careers rooted in compassion, competence and a commitment to improving lives.
During the ceremony, Ansu‑Frimpong announced the introduction of a General Nursing Programme, noting that the college has secured accreditation from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. He also detailed infrastructure upgrades, such as digitising the library, adding 40 computers, installing interactive boards and refurbishing facilities.
However, the Principal identified remaining needs, including completing a hostel project, building staff quarters, procuring a standby generator and establishing a modern simulation and skills laboratory. He appealed to government agencies, development partners, alumni, traditional authorities, corporate organisations and friends of the college to support these initiatives.
The 10th Anniversary celebration also revealed that 943 students have passed through Yeji Nursing College over the past decade, many now serving in hospitals, clinics, health centres and communities across Ghana. Ansu‑Frimpong called on stakeholders to help the college continue producing competent healthcare professionals who can enhance national healthcare delivery.
Looking ahead, the college aims to strengthen partnerships, expand infrastructure, improve student support systems and advance research and technology. The anniversary will serve as a platform to achieve these goals.
