Ghanaian actress and film producer Salma Mumin said the backlash over her body enhancement cost her endorsement deals with brands.
In a Joy Prime interview on the Changes show, Mumin explained that she had initially kept silent about her personal choices, believing “silence is golden.” She noted that this approach had worked for years, allowing her to maintain relationships with brands such as Maggi Cube.
However, when negative comments about her body enhancement surfaced, the actress said the criticism tarnished her reputation and led to the withdrawal of existing contracts and the dismissal of potential deals. “People kept attacking me; they could say anything to me,” she said.
Mumin admitted that the constant criticism forced her to respond, a shift from her usual silence. She described how the backlash made her feel “talked to like that” and ultimately convinced her that silence was not a viable strategy.
She added that the loss of endorsements was a direct result of the public’s reaction to her body enhancement, a personal choice she had not intended to broadcast.
Moving forward, Mumin said she will continue to address criticism openly, hoping to rebuild her image and regain brand confidence.
