Revenue officers and Gardaí at Dublin Airport seized approximately 5kg of cocaine concealed inside bags of lollipops during a routine baggage search on Thursday.
The discovery came when staff inspected a passenger’s luggage and found the illicit drugs wrapped in confectionery. Gardaí subsequently recovered €16,000 (about £13,700) in cash and more controlled drugs worth €14,500 (about £12,500).
A man in his 60s, arrested and charged in connection with the seizure, appeared in court on Friday morning.
