On 4 November 2026, Spotify rolled out a new Surround Sound concert film featuring Runtown, marking a decade since the release of “Mad Over You.” The 90‑minute production was directed by Tim Horwood and shot in a circular set in Lagos, allowing viewers to feel surrounded by the artist and his audience.
The film is divided into four chapters that trace Runtown’s musical evolution, from the opening tracks “Lagos to Kampala” and “Tradition” to the climactic finale where “Mad Over You” leads into “Unleash” and closes with “Energy.” The structure gives space for both fan favourites and deeper cuts, creating an intimate experience for listeners.
Spotify’s data shows the track has amassed 140.7 million lifetime streams, with 36.6 million streams in 2026 alone, surpassing the 33.4 million recorded in 2025. More than three million user‑created playlists feature the song, underscoring its enduring popularity.
Rifumo Mdaka, Content Marketing Manager for Spotify in Africa, said the film “gives us a way to celebrate that connection through Runtown’s wider catalogue, with the artist and his fans at the centre.” Horwood added, “The four chapters give us room to explore the different moods in Runtown’s music…By the time we reach ‘Mad Over You,’ the audience has travelled through the wider world that gives that song its place.”
Surround Sound is Spotify’s live‑performance format that originated in Sub‑Saharan Africa, bringing artists together with selected Premium fans for immersive recordings. The Lagos session is the latest example of this initiative, showcasing Runtown’s dynamic stage presence and the close bond with his listeners.
Fans can stream the film across Spotify’s platform, experiencing the full‑circle performance that celebrates a decade of a song that continues to shape listeners’ playlists worldwide.
