Ghanaian musician Reggie Zippy has issued a warning to his followers that he could face up to five years in prison if found guilty in an upcoming criminal court case.
In a heartfelt video posted on Facebook, the artist explained that he felt compelled by his spirit to speak publicly before his court appearance. He clarified that the matter is criminal, not civil, and that a guilty verdict would carry a jail sentence.
“I’m going to court, and the court I’m going to is not a civil court but a criminal court. If I’m found guilty, the worst punishment will be that I will go to jail for five years for a crime that my perpetrators know I haven’t committed,” he said.
Reggie appealed to his supporters to pray for him, adding that if they do not hear from him online after the court proceedings, it would mean he has been jailed. He admitted he does not know how many years he might serve.
He reflected on the past four and a half years spent defending himself, stating he does not see himself as a victim and believes the ordeal will eventually end. He also revealed a prior conviction for breaching a non‑molestation order, which will leave a permanent criminal record.
He concluded, “I have still been convicted of breaching a non‑molestation order, which means that I will have a criminal record in my name for the rest of my life.”
