In an official executive statement, the President nominated Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle, as Minister of State at the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology. She succeeds the late Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, who passed away in the August 2025 military helicopter accident.
Additionally, Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central, has been nominated as Minister of State at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
Key Reassignments Across Portfolios
As part of the realignment, President Mahama also reshuffled two sitting ministers into critical sector roles:
Kenneth Gilbert Adjei moves to head the Ministry of Defence, taking over the portfolio previously held by the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.
Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda, has been reassigned from Local Government to lead the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The presidency indicated that these appointments are intended to place experienced legislators in strategic roles to drive the government's development agenda. All new nominations have been submitted to the Speaker of Parliament for vetting by the Appointments Committee.
