Mr Paul Awentami Afoko, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Chairmanship, has urged the party to place women at the heart of its administrative framework. Speaking to delegates during his campaign, Afoko highlighted women’s multifaceted contributions as organisers, communicators, business leaders, professionals, farmers, traders, caregivers and strategists that shape homes, communities and party dynamics.
“To the women of our party and of Ghana, I say this: no serious renewal of the NPP can take place without women at the centre. If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a whole nation,” Afoko said.
He added that, if elected National Chairman, he would embed women’s participation into the party’s organisation and policy, expanding opportunities in fundraising, communication, mobilisation and leadership development. “The NPP cannot recapture power without women. Ghana cannot prosper without women. Women’s inclusion is both a moral imperative and a strategic necessity for electoral success and national development,” he reiterated.
Afoko stressed that meaningful participation by women in decision‑making and policy development would be essential to rebuilding public trust and strengthening the NPP’s connection with communities across the country.
