James Geh, Ho Central Constituency Communications Officer of the NPP, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of deliberately targeting party structures in Ho. Geh told the Ghana News Agency that the recent removal of the fence wall at the NPP Regional Office was a political act rather than an infrastructure measure. He added that the party would pursue its own development projects, including a dual‑carriage road from Noguera Junction through the Ho Technical University area, if it returned to government.
In a statement issued on Friday, September 18, 2026, the NDC’s Volta Regional Communications Officer, Mr Sorkpa Kafui Agbleze, said the demolition was part of a road‑reservation clearance exercise under the Government’s Big Push programme. Agbleze explained that the fence had been identified and marked for removal the previous year and that the Ho Municipal Assembly had communicated this to NPP leadership.
Agbleze noted that other structures within the corridor— including parts of the AME Zion Church, private properties and an old building opposite the Guinness premises—were also removed. He stressed that the work was based on location within the road reservation, not on political affiliation, and that metal gates and other removable ironwork were taken down before the fence was demolished to minimise damage.
Both parties now argue over whether the action should be seen as a routine infrastructure intervention or as an act of political victimisation. The NPP maintains that the demolition was a deliberate targeting of its facilities, while the NDC insists it was a standard road‑opening exercise affecting all owners equally.
Observers note that the dispute unfolds amid broader road‑opening and construction activities in Ho, with the NDC maintaining that the fence fell within the required road corridor.
