NPA Deputy CEO Dr Dramani Bukari laid to rest in Damongo

Hundreds of dignitaries, industry figures and mourners gathered for the Islamic burial rites of the petroleum authority executive, who died on August 11 after a short illness and was remembered for spearheading the NPA's Centre of Excellence and its 24-Hour Programme in the downstream sector.

The late Deputy Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Dramani Bukari, was laid to rest on Thursday, August 20, in Damongo, in accordance with Islamic tradition.

As part of the burial arrangements, Islamic clergy offered a sermon on the inevitability of death, followed by funeral (Janazah) prayer at his family residence, attended by family members, NPA management and staff, colleagues and well-wishers from across Ghana.

Following the prayer, his remains were conveyed to the Damongo cemetery for burial. Hundreds of dignitaries, industry captains and mourners joined the burial ceremony to bid farewell to Dr Bukari and offer condolences to the bereaved family.

Dr Bukari passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after a short illness.

As a Deputy Chief Executive of the NPA, he spearheaded the Authority's Centre of Excellence and championed the implementation of the 24-Hour Programme in the downstream petroleum sector. He served in various capacities during his career and was widely recognised for his humility, discipline, commitment and selfless leadership, as well as his devotion to his family, friends, subordinates, colleagues and leaders. He was a husband, father, mentor and an academic.
