Lekzy Decomic announced that the veteran comedians KSM, Fritz Baffour and Tommy Annan‑Forson will share a stage with him on November 7 at the University of Professional Studies, Accra Auditorium for a special event titled Lekzy Unleashed — The Godfathers Edition. The gathering is billed as a personal milestone and a tribute to the foundation these pioneers laid for Ghanaian comedy.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Lekzy reflected on his childhood exposure to the trio’s work. “I remember growing up, my dad would be watching Fritz and Friends, KSM. As a little boy, I can boldly tell you that I didn’t understand most of the things they were saying, but I could see my dad enjoying them,” he said.
He added that as his own career progressed he came to appreciate the impact of the pioneers on contemporary English‑language comedy. “They actually had to crawl for some of us to walk. So, the existence of comedy, I mean contemporary comedy or English‑speaking comedy, is because of the foundation they laid,” he added.
For Lekzy, the event is more than a comedy show; it is an opportunity to bring different generations together. “It’s old wine and fresh wine coming together,” he said, promising a night that would allow audiences to witness a significant moment in Ghanaian entertainment.
The lineup will feature established and contemporary comedians, including Clemento Suarez, DKB, Foster Romanus, Jeneral Ntatia, Kwaku Manu, Khemikal, Mr Beautiful, David Oscar, Parrot Mouth, Percy Obrempong, James Brown and Jeffery Nortey. International performers Chris Mapane and Deacon Famous will also join, while rapper Okyeame Kwame and the Kyemkyem Band are expected to add musical flair.
“When I met them in person, you could clearly see that they know my work and they know my exploits. They were able to make me out of the machine, meaning I’m also doing something right,” Lekzy said, describing the opportunity to host the veterans as a dream come true.
He urged fans to attend, noting that many have heard the names but never seen the legends perform. “If you don’t show up, you are missing out on a lot. Because most people have heard the names I just built, but they’ve never experienced them before,” he said.
Tickets for the event are on sale through the UPSA website and local vendors. The show promises to be a landmark evening for comedy lovers, celebrating the past while inspiring the future.
