Ghanaian highlife singer Kojo Black (real name Daniel Addo) unveiled his latest single, “Love,” on Saturday, September 19. The track, produced by Dikoder Beatz, marries the genre’s classic melodic lines with a fresh, modern soundscape.
Since his commercial debut in 2015, Kojo Black has built a reputation for preserving highlife’s core identity while experimenting with contemporary arrangements. His previous releases, including “Highlife Agogo” and “Atiaa” in 2023, showcased this blend of tradition and innovation.
In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Kojo Black explained that “Love” is part of his broader mission to keep authentic Ghanaian highlife alive and relevant. “My passion for the genre comes from a desire to preserve its identity and demonstrate that Highlife can evolve without losing the elements that make it distinctly Ghanaian,” he said.
The artist’s efforts have begun to earn industry recognition, with nominations for Highlife Song of the Year and Highlife Artist of the Year at this year’s Ghana Music Awards USA (GMAUSA).
“Love” is now available on all major digital streaming platforms, offering listeners a new way to experience highlife’s enduring appeal.
