The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has issued a stern warning to prospective students and their families about a surge in fake admission and accommodation agents operating online.
In a statement released on Thursday, September 17, the university noted an increase in social media posts, WhatsApp groups, websites and other platforms that purport to provide official information or assistance with admissions, hall allocation and room bookings.
KNUST stressed that only officially designated university offices and platforms are authorised to give guidance on admissions, fees, accommodation and hall bookings. It urged applicants not to send money, admission credentials, passwords or personal documents to anyone claiming to represent the university.
The university reminded applicants that their KNUST Admissions Portal credentials are personal and confidential and must not be shared with third parties. It directed students to rely on information published on its official website, knust.edu.gh, and to contact the Admissions Office via the numbers 024 013 0946, 020 133 2812 or 054 020 6262, or through its official WhatsApp (024 013 0946) and Telegram (050 048 2807) contacts.
By using the designated channels, applicants can avoid fraudulent schemes targeting students seeking admission and accommodation at KNUST.
