President John Dramani Mahama on Monday received the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Sarah Mullally, at the Presidency as part of her maiden official tour of the African continent.
During the high-profile meeting, President Mahama congratulated Archbishop Mullally on her historic appointment as the first woman to lead the global Anglican Communion, describing her elevation as a landmark moment for leadership within the Church.
The President reaffirmed Ghana’s dedication to deepening its longstanding relationship with the Anglican Church, noting the vital role the institution plays in supporting national development, advancing social justice, and expanding access to education and healthcare. He also highlighted the Church's continued collaboration with the state on peacebuilding initiatives.
The courtesy visit underscored the enduring ties between Ghana, the United Kingdom, and the worldwide Anglican Communion, reflecting a shared commitment to joint developmental efforts and common values.
