GCB Bank emerged as the overall champion of the 2026 Citi Business Olympics, held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, after a series of decisive victories across multiple sports.
The bank collected crucial wins in men’s and women’s tug of war, seven‑a‑side football, men’s volleyball, men’s lime and spoon, men’s lawn tennis, men’s and women’s sack race, and Scrabble, amassing enough points to top the overall standings.
Its triumph earned GCB Bank a gold medal and the Overall Champions Award, marking the ninth time the bank has claimed the title since it began competing in the annual corporate sporting event.
The competition featured 20 sporting disciplines and drew employees from more than 100 companies for team and individual contests, including arm wrestling, chess, draughts and swimming.
Prior to the event, GCB Bank officials expressed confidence in retaining the crown during an appearance on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV, a sentiment that was vindicated by the bank’s performances.
