Bechem United’s disciplined defence kept Hearts of Oak at bay for the first time this season, ending the Phobians’ run of victories over Bibiani Gold Stars and Berekum Chelsea with a goalless draw at the University of Ghana Stadium. The result extended Hearts’ unbeaten start to three matches and left them top of the table with five points.
In the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Asante Kotoko and Samartex finished 1-1. Kotoko goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad denied a penalty in the 66th minute, only for former Samartex striker Emmanuel Mamah to score nine minutes later. Christian Agyenim Boateng equalised eight minutes after the goal, preserving Samartex’s unbeaten home record.
Samartex moved into second place, level on points with Hearts, while Kotoko remained fourth with five points after three matches, still without an away win. Hearts will travel to face Karela United, Bechem host Dreams FC, Kotoko welcome Aduana FC, and Samartex visit Swedru All Blacks.
