Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson‑Nelson Dafeamekpor, confirmed that two bail applications for Asante Akyem North MP Ohene Kwame Frimpong have been denied while the lawmaker stays in custody in the Netherlands.
Frimpong was arrested at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport in May 2026 after travelling from Ghana on allegations linked to romance scams and money laundering. Parliament has since engaged Ghana’s diplomatic mission in The Hague for further information.
Mr Dafeamekpor said the extradition hearing to the United States is scheduled for 18 November 2026 and that Parliament is preparing a statement on the MP’s status. He urged the media to refrain from publishing unverified details as the legal team works to obtain official documents related to the arrest.
