A fire erupted in a four‑bedroom apartment at Millennium City in Gomoa East District, Central Region, on Thursday, leaving the unit largely gutted. The blaze destroyed parts of the interior and many of its contents, though the full extent of the damage has yet to be assessed.
Responders from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) arrived quickly and contained the fire before it could spread to adjacent buildings. The service’s prompt action is credited with preventing a larger disaster in the densely populated residential complex.
At the time of the incident, it was not clear whether anyone was injured or killed. The GNFS has stated that it will investigate the cause of the fire and conduct a detailed damage assessment.
Local residents reported seeing thick smoke billowing from the apartment before the fire was brought under control. The building’s management has not yet released a statement regarding the incident or the status of the affected unit.
