Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo‑Addo stressed the need for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as it looks ahead to the 2028 general elections. He made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) to his office, where the committee formally invited him to the party’s 2026 National Delegates Conference.
According to a Facebook post by NOEC Chairperson Frederick Opare‑Ansah, Akufo‑Addo expressed confidence in the NPP’s prospects for 2028 while highlighting the importance of renewed commitment and a solid organisational foundation. He said that unity would be critical as the party seeks to rebuild and renew itself, particularly by energising its grassroots base.
The former president also commended the NOEC for its work in organising the National Delegates Conference and the national officers election process. He assured the committee of his presence at the conference and expressed support for their efforts as the party prepares for the 2028 campaign.
Following the visit, the NOEC thanked Akufo‑Addo for his reception, counsel and support, noting that the party is now better positioned to move forward with a unified strategy for the upcoming elections.
