Afreximbank and its subsidiaries posted a 24% increase in net income, reaching US$813.5 million for the nine months ended 30 September 2026, up from US$654.3 million in the same period last year.

The Group’s total assets grew 12% to US$54.1 billion, while net loans and advances rose 8% to US$36.2 billion, reflecting continued demand for trade and project financing across Africa and the Caribbean.

Gross income climbed 11% to US$2.7 billion, supported by a 9.1% rise in interest income to US$2.4 billion, driven by higher average loan balances that moved from US$28.9 billion to US$34.8 billion.

Fees and commission income from guarantees, letters of credit and advisory services increased to US$136.9 million. The cost‑to‑income ratio improved to 20%, below the bank’s strategic ceiling of 30%.

Return on average shareholders’ equity held at 12%, while return on average assets improved to 2.48%. The non‑performing loan ratio remained sound at 2.48%.

Liquidity stayed strong with liquid assets at US$6.1 billion, 13% of total assets. Capital adequacy stood at 22%.

Shareholders’ funds rose to US$9.0 billion, supported by a US$195.2 million equity injection under the General Capital Increase programme.

Afreximbank also raised US$1.5 billion in a dual‑tranche bond issue in July 2026, doubling its debt securities to US$4.4 billion, and continued its countercyclical Gulf Crisis Response Programme, allocating US$10 billion to support member countries.

High‑impact investments grew 23% to US$1.6 billion, underpinning industrialisation and trade competitiveness across the region.

Senior Executive Vice President Denys Denya said the results demonstrate the bank’s ability to deliver sustainable performance while advancing its development mandate across Africa and the Caribbean.
