The Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service finished a nationwide series of enforcement training programmes on Thursday, September 24, when 45 police personnel and public sector representatives gathered at the Stevens Hotel Conference Room in Ho.
The session, organised with the Service’s private‑sector partner, focused on operating the Traffitech‑GH automated traffic enforcement system and recent amendments to Ghana’s road traffic laws.
Participants included MTTD officers from Ho and representatives of the Judicial Service, National Road Safety Authority, National Insurance Commission and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority. They reviewed the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519) and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153), with particular emphasis on automated offences and fines under Regulation 242.
Practical training covered the use of the in‑vehicle fixed camera and the handheld or tripod Lasercam4 speed camera, while the Volta Region back‑office team received hands‑on instruction on the new software.
The Police Service confirmed that the Volta Region back‑office has been established at the Regional MTTD Office in Ho and equipped with the updated Traffitech‑GH software in preparation for the October 1 rollout.
Officials say the training will enable officers to enforce traffic laws more efficiently and provide a clear process for contesting automated traffic offences.
