Ernest Nuamah Scores Twice as Lyon Beat Rennes 4-0
Ghanaian striker Ernest Nuamah was the star of Olympique Lyon’s 4-0 triumph over Rennes, scoring twice and helping the club maintain an unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Ligue 1 season. Nuamah returned to the starting XI after missing the Europa League win against Anderlecht and opened the scoring just seven minutes into the match, finishing a pass from skipper Corentin Tolisso. He was on the brink of a second goal eleven minutes later, but a well-timed block by Brice Samba sent the ball to the corner. Ten minutes after that missed chance, Nuamah doubled the lead from a Pavel Sulc pass, making it 2-0. Zachary Athekame added a third after the break and Tolisso sealed the win with a fourth goal. With his two goals, Nuamah has now been involved in four goals across four league games this season, scoring three and assisting once.
