The National Communications Authority (NCA) announced on Saturday, September 26 that extensive voice and data disruptions are affecting the five northern regions of Ghana and portions of the Oti Region. Three separate transmission routes that carry telecommunications capacity to these areas have been severed by fibre cuts, leading to outages and significant degradation across 2G, 3G and 4G networks.
Technical teams from the affected network operators, together with the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), have been deployed to the damaged routes to conduct repairs. The NCA is closely monitoring the restoration work and coordinating with relevant operators and agencies to expedite the return of services.
The Authority has apologized to consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience and pledged to provide further updates as restoration efforts progress.
