A severe rainstorm over the weekend left several houses in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region with roofs ripped off, displacing residents in communities such as Grubi, Kokose and Kwame Akura.
Local farmers and their families reported that the heavy downpour caused significant structural damage, prompting some to seek temporary shelter with relatives and friends. The incident has disrupted daily activities and added financial strain to households already struggling to meet basic needs.
Residents have appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Krachi Nchumuru District Assembly and benevolent organisations for urgent relief. NADMO’s District Director, Shadrach Njebi, along with a rescue team, visited affected villages to assess damage and support households.
The organisation has reaffirmed its commitment to responding to emergencies and supporting communities affected by disasters, while calling for relief items and assistance to help families recover and restore livelihoods.
