Ghana Deploys 61 Health Workers to Grenada Under Labour Export Programme

Ghana has dispatched 61 health professionals to the Caribbean island of Grenada under a Labour Export Programme designed to address the nation’s chronic shortage of skilled medical staff. The workers will be posted to various hospitals and clinics under renewable two‑year contracts.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah urged the team to conduct themselves with professionalism and integrity, noting that while qualifications open doors, character determines how long those doors remain open. “Your certificate or your qualification may open the door for you, but your character will determine how long the door will be kept open,” he told the delegation.

Labour Minister Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum added that the workers must honour their contractual obligations at all times. “Go and work well, don’t mess up. Try and raise the flag of Ghana. Be professional. Professionalism is key. This is what we expect from you,” he said.

The ministry also revealed plans to send additional health workers to Germany and other Caribbean countries in future phases of the programme. The initiative seeks to provide Ghanaians with international employment while helping partner nations strengthen their health sectors.
