GCB Bank PLC employees visited the Village of Hope in Gomoa Fetteh, Central Region, on a Saturday to hand over food supplies, toiletries, clothing, educational materials and other essential items to the children living there. The donation was organised by the bank’s Credit Risk Management team, who had identified the facility as a priority for support.
Beyond the material gifts, the team spent the day engaging the children in recreational activities, sharing conversations and offering words of encouragement. “We wanted the children to feel our presence as much as they benefited from the items we brought,” said Edmund Sasu, Head of Credit Risk Management. “Spending time with them, listening to them and sharing those moments was an important part of the experience for our team.”
The visit is one of 95 community projects under GCB’s Staff Community Impact Programme, which mobilises more than 4,500 employees across 95 groups to implement initiatives nationwide between August and September 2026. The programme aims to positively impact up to one million Ghanaians through projects in healthcare, education, water and sanitation, social protection, environmental sustainability, youth development, community safety and infrastructure.
Cynthia Ofori‑Dwumfuo, GCB’s Chief Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Officer, noted that employee involvement adds a personal dimension to the bank’s CSR efforts. “Social impact is not only measured by the resources we provide, but also by the willingness to give our time, listen and understand,” she said.
The Village of Hope expressed gratitude for both the supplies and the time spent with the children, highlighting how the intervention will support the facility’s ongoing care work. The project marks the fifth of the 95 initiatives being carried out by GCB staff across Ghana.
