FirstBank Ghana Launches FirstEdu to Finance Private Schools

FirstBank Ghana announced a renewed commitment to support the expansion of private education in Ghana during the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) 30th Annual General Conference in Ho. The bank’s Acting Head of Retail Banking, Enoch Adams, introduced FirstEdu, a tailored financial solution designed to meet the unique operational needs of schools.

FirstEdu offers financing for working capital, renovations, expansion projects, school vehicles, computer hardware and IT infrastructure. The bank highlighted that its flexible repayment structures align with schools’ cash‑flow cycles, allowing institutions to manage salaries, fees, technology and transportation while maintaining high service standards.

In addition to loans, FirstBank is rolling out a Smart School Fees Collection & Payment platform. The digital tool enables parents and guardians to pay fees online, giving schools improved visibility, tracking and reconciliation of payments.

Adams emphasized that FirstBank’s approach goes beyond product provision; the bank seeks long‑term partnerships with schools, supporting them throughout their growth and digital transformation journey. “You First” is the bank’s mantra, underscoring its focus on putting customers at the centre of every solution.

Speakers at the conference, including Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin and GNAPS President Professor Damasus Tuurosong, praised the resilience of private schools and called for greater support from government bodies to create a conducive operating environment.

FirstBank believes a financially sustainable, technology‑enabled private education sector is vital to Ghana’s human capital development, job creation and broader economic growth. The bank’s FirstEdu and digital payment solutions aim to help schools overcome financial constraints and invest in infrastructure and technology.
