A nurse, Courage Babanawo, has been elected as the National Democratic Congress Deputy Youth Organiser for the Ketu South Constituency. The election saw Babanawo secure 205 votes, about 72% of the total, while his rival Allah Thomas Kwame polled 80 votes, representing 28% of the ballots.
In a Joy News interview, Babanawo pledged to mobilise and empower the youth at the grassroots, calling them the "backbone and driving force of the NDC". He said a stronger, more vibrant youth base would boost the party’s performance in the 2028 general election.

He added he would work closely with other executives to strengthen party structures and maintain unity at every level. “I pledge to serve with loyalty, discipline, humility, and dedication,” he said, promising collaboration with party leadership, comrades and stakeholders to advance the NDC’s fortunes.
Prior to this role, Babanawo served as Deputy TEIN Organiser and TEIN President at Tamale Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Branch Communications Officer at Wuduoba LA Primary, and held several committee positions within the Ketu South NDC Youth Wing and Volta Region communications team.
