Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, said the government would ensure that persons who are legally entitled to compensation receive what is due to them as work on the Accra‑Kumasi Bypass resumes. Speaking during an inspection of the Konongo Bypass, a segment of the project, he explained that outstanding claims could not be fully addressed while contractors had been off‑site for extended periods.
"The contractors were off‑site for almost two years. They couldn’t discuss compensation while they were home. Now that they are back on site, the outstanding compensation issues will be resolved between the contractors and the Highway Authority," Agbodza told the crowd.
He added, "Anybody who is owed compensation shall be compensated; no one should worry about that." The minister urged contractors to intensify their efforts to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
