On Monday, 5 October 2026, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, visited the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Accra. The trip was part of a broader working tour that examined the conditions of Ghanaian visa applicants across more than 20 embassies and visa application centres.
During the visit, the Minister toured the facility, interacted with applicants and team members, and gained firsthand insight into the customer journey and operational processes. He praised the professionalism of the VFS Global staff and the high service standards maintained at the centre.
Mr Ablakwa said the tour allowed him to see the current situation first‑hand and to hold direct conversations with fellow citizens about their experiences. He added that he will engage Heads of Missions in the coming days on his findings and observations, aiming to work together to secure improvements.
“I must acknowledge that substantial progress has been made by some missions,” Mr Ablakwa said after the tour. He stressed that it is the prerogative of diplomatic missions to determine who qualifies for their visas, and that he would not interfere with this. “Nonetheless, they must take concrete steps to ensure the dignity of Ghanaians is safeguarded,” he added.
The Minister’s visit highlighted a shared commitment to service excellence and customer experience, with VFS Global showcasing its dedication to delivering efficient, secure, and customer‑focused services.
